SERIES 1- Dementia Care Provider Qualification Series (6 Contact Hours, .6 CEUs)

This four-part DVD program provides essential information for the safe and effective care of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and all other types of dementia. Successful completion of Series 1 leads to qualification as an AFA Dementia Care Provider and provides 6 Continuing Education Contact Hours (.6 CEUs) for nurses.


SERIES 2- Dementia Care Specialist Qualification Series (11 Contact Hours, 1.1 CEUs)

This five-part DVD program provides vital insight into the intellectual, functional, psychiatric and behavioral changes that occur in individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia, as well as comprehensive management interventions. Successful completion of Series 1 and Series 2 leads to qualification as an AFA Dementia Care Specialist and offers a total of 1.7 CEUs for nurses (.6 CEUs for Series 1 and 1.1 CEUs for Series 2).

These activities are provided by the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America in cooperation with The University of Alabama College of Continuing Studies, which is approved as a provider of continuing education in nursing by the Alabama State Nurses Association (ASNA).  ASNA is accredited by the Central Regional Accrediting Committee of the American Nurses Association (ANA) as a provider and approval body for continuing education for nurses This approval is recognized in all states and territories of the United States, except California, Florida and Iowa. Note: Nurses licensed in California, Florida and Iowa should contact their local board of nursing to see if they can obtain a portion of CEUs based on approval in other states.
